Tents and Trees

How to play

New to Tents? The Folding Forest lets you pitch tents in six connected paper woodland clearings.

Tap a blank square to pitch a tent; tap it again to clear it. Switch Grass on to mark squares that cannot hold a tent, and off to place tents again.

Each tree needs its own tent directly above, below, left or right. Every tent must pair with a different tree. A tent can be beside more than one tree, provided all tents and trees can be paired.

Tents cannot touch, even diagonally. Match the number of tents in each row and column to the clues around the board. You do not have to mark every remaining square as grass to win.

Keyboard: Tab to the board, arrows to move, Enter or Space to act. G toggles Grass, H asks for a hint, Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes, and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl/Cmd+Y redoes.

6 × 6 and 8 × 8 are board sizes, not difficulty ratings. Progress saves in this browser when local storage is available; it does not sync between devices. Undo and redo history lasts for this session.

Stuck?

A zero clue means its whole row or column is grass. Once a line has enough tents, its other squares are grass too. Remember to leave a gap around each tent.

Hint checks your current tents and grass marks; Apply hint makes the suggested move. A contradiction means a current choice needs clearing or undoing.

Reveal shows the full answer and marks this puzzle as assisted. It is separate from a hint.
