Choose a position, then Put the seeds back. Your active game stays exactly as it was. A shown opponent response is one possible reply, not a forced line or best-move claim.
Presentation and help
Practice encounters always allow taking a turn back. Turn guidance off for a quieter full match without takebacks; replay and safe exploration remain available.
These are bounded local thinking settings, not player ratings. The rival always uses legal engine moves. Sound is off; there is no audio to activate.
How this Bao adventure works
You control South, the two rows nearest you in the wide board view. The phone view rotates the same board: your two rows become the left two columns. Every pit count is explicit; the seeds are interchangeable counters, not coloured teams.
Tap a highlighted starting pit, choose a legal action, then Play this move. Captures are compulsory when the engine offers them. A direction or house choice is part of that legal action; automatic relays do not let you invent a new direction halfway through.
In namua, each turn adds a seed from your reserve. Captured seeds re-enter play on the capturing side; they are not banked as points. Replays show actual sowing runs, pickups, captures, continuations and turn endings from the same rules engine as regular Bao. Counts may briefly be in hand between events.
Rehearse explores a selected move while your real game is preserved. Follow the seeds descends to the relevant pits. Previous event, Next event and Play control the explanation; Show whole board returns to the overview. Return to our game restores the live position, phase, reserves, houses and player exactly. If takebacks are enabled, replacing an earlier turn is a separate, explicit action.
Keyboard: Tab to the board, arrows between pits, Enter or Space to inspect a starting pit. Tab to a legal action, then Rehearse or Play. Escape returns to the whole board. Control or Command Z takes back a full human/computer turn when allowed.
A full match begins from the genuine starting position and may be won or lost. Both results receive a complete ending. An empty front row or no legal move explains the actual winner. A relay safety stop pauses with no winner declared; take back or restart to recover.
This is the same site implementation of Bao la Kiswahili with takasia, pinned to bao-v0.2.0-takasia-site-v1. Its underlying rules reference is a public draft, with a disclosed below-six owned-house boundary. Regular Bao has the same rules and provenance.
Amani and this contemporary courtyard are fictional. The setting is inspired by coastal Zanzibar; this is not a historical reconstruction.
Simple view is fully playable. Reduced motion moves directly between views. Long engine turns may be grouped for display; the exact final position and all genuine legal choices remain unchanged. Local saving can fail or be cleared; keep the tab open if the save notice says unavailable.
